"Georges Goujon and his two brothers opened a bicycle factory around 1889 rue Lenepveu in Angers and filed the mark" L'Angevine "in 1893. The factory is transported rue du Mail in 1898, then in large workshops rue Duboys and Bertin in 1910. The "Continental" brand, which will become famous thanks to great cycling champions like Mourand, appears around 1900

The house Goujon largely contributed to spread the use of the bicycle in Maine-et-Loire, which ranks at the beginning of the years 20 in the third rank of the French departments by the number of bicycles in service. Continental cycles radiate throughout the West. Nearly 10,000 were produced in 1923 by 50 workers and employees. The factory also supplies all accessories and spare parts for cycling. "Continental cycles, the best", "We forget the pedals, on Continental cycles": these slogans remain posted until around 1960, the year of disappearance of the company. "
