Inspired by the success of Michaux, Adolphe Clément (1855-1928) founded his own workshop in Lyon in 1877, Cycles Clément SA. He then opened a large workshop in 1878 in Paris (rue Brunel in the 17th arrondissement). Under the name of Clément et Cie, his company became the most important manufacturer of cycles in France in 1886. Produced in large quantities, bicycles are now manufactured in an industrial and mechanized way. In 1894, creation of the Society of velocipedes Clément.
